these make me feel like i'm visiting a tranquil, surreal planet, possibly with Air playing on the soundtrack. in other words, awesome. are these based on places you've visited?

Thanks, Amy. The top one is elephant seals at Point Reyes. Digital video shot through a scope caused all kinds of good distortions. Middle one is Death Valley at sunset. Bottom one is from a study of a landscape I invented. So basically all otherworldly. You new work is looking so good, by the way!

Heidi, this is an amazing picture. I love the blues and grays (or greys....if I'm British). When I saw this link on Jons's website, I was blown away. You are so talented. I know that it's hard for someone like me (only trained in music, not art).....to appreciate your skill, but all I know is my visceral reaction to your pictures, and I can completely see myself in those landscapes. It's like I am there. Good job, and kudos to you. You are an amazing woman, and I'm glad that Jon found you.

Is that top one from when Jon took that pic through the scope at Chimney Rock in January? Those were funky but cool pictures, I love what you did with it. And the other paintings in this series are really gorgeous as well, can't wait to see when you are done with them.

by the way, that last post was Jennifer, sister in law who forgot she still had this handle from years ago on Blogger.

Thanks Kara and Jennifer. Glad you like the work. I am having so much fun doing it. Kara, you've noticed what is so fun for me about painting landscapes - that I get to visit them all over again while I paint them. Jennifer, those are the seals we saw on our trip with you. I shot a video through the scope.
