July shows

The Way You Make Me Feel:
Curating Loss and Resilience While the City Goes Boom!$$$$

This show addresses the impact of soaring rents, pending evictions, and growing homogeneity on San Francisco's dwindling bohemian class. Echoing the uncertainty felt by many artists and outliers who have called SF their home for decades, the exhibit seeks to create an environment that elicits communal longing, shared memory, and a gnawing, visceral sense of instability.

It also features the work of Matt Frederick, Randy Beckleheimer, Katja Liebenath, Sarah Newton, and Andrew McKinley

Progress on work in the studio

Watercolor sketches

Spent a lot of time failing over and over with watercolor. These are the ones that didn't end up in the garbage. The bottom two were done from life. The top one is my aunt.

Some oil sketches

I spend a week playing in the studio trying to be as messy as possible and make situations that might be hard to get out of. Lots of thick gloopy paint. No falling back on habits with brushes. Trying hard to be at the edge of total failure. So much fun.

A little, 7"x5", waterfall done using a monotype I made last year as reference.
A study of the night sky in south Texas. 12"x16"
A larger painting of a similar view done over another old painting. 28"x50"
